What is a Hymen?

The hymen is a thin membrane that partially covers the vaginal opening. Contrary to what many believe, except in rare cases, the hymen is not an impenetrable seal and allows menstrual flow or healthy, normal vaginal discharge to leave the body. Even today, in many cultures, an intact hymen is considered to be a sign of virginity, especially if there is the presence of blood upon penetration on the wedding night.

Clinically, however, a torn hymen does not confirm the loss of virginity by sexual activity. Hymen can be torn during any everyday activities such as strenuous exercises, horse or bicycle riding, or by a simple gynecological examination with a speculum or a finger. Also, the first rupture of the hymen, regardless of the method, doesn't always draw blood and is not always painful.Brow Forehead Lift

If a woman thinks that a torn hymen can be a cause of misunderstanding and concern between herself and her partner after marriage, this procedure is best suited option for her.

Hymenoplasty is a surgical procedure which restores the torn hymen or it can also be called as surgical restoration of integrity of hymen. This procedure could mean a lot for few women in society. This surgery can make you more comfortable on your wedding night and improves your self-confidence.

Hymenoplasty can
  • Repair the torn hymen with the remaining pieces.
  • Reconstruct the hymen with the help of vaginal tissues.
