Breast Lift

A gentle lift
in the right direction.

Breast lift restores your breasts to their former glory.

Brow Forehead Lift

Breast lift restores your breasts to their former glory. You're likely to fall in love again with your newly improved bust line.

Breasts come in different shapes and sizes. They are naturally shaped in such a way that they complement your body. Generally, everyone has breasts as per their body contour but there are many reasons which can make your breasts sag prematurely. With this sagging your nipples point downwards and that may affect your self-confidence. You may be experiencing such right now. There are patients who come to us with similar concerns and after the procedure they get their confidence and poise back.

Every patient has different and unique concern. They are unhappy with their appearance which in turn negatively impacts their state of mind. This sagging due to different factors like age, gravity, pregnancy etc. is called as Breast Ptosis.

In the diagram of Sagging Breasts, the extreme left, shows no visible sign of sagging and the extreme right shows extreme sagging grading from 1 to 3.

Breast Lift, also called as Mastopexy, is a procedure which raises the breasts by tightening the surrounding tissue and removing the excess skin. It reshapes and supports the new breast contour. This procedure gives your breast a firm appearance and it can be performed on any size of breasts though the results are not very long lasting for heavier breasts.

Brow Forehead Lift

An uplifted and youthful breast after the Breast Lift or Mastopexy can rejuvenate the body contour. Breast can change their shape and lose their firmness sometimes over time and their can also be a result of many reasons like:

  • Aging
  • Gravity
  • Pregnancy
  • Breast feeding
  • Weight fluctuations
  • Heredity

Breast lift surgery cannot increase the size of the breast. Breast lift can be performed with breast augmentation for getting the fuller and lifted breasts.

Breast lift also cannot reduce the size of the breasts so if you also want breast to be reduced, consider combining breast lift surgery with breast reduction surgery.

Breast Lift Surgery or Mastopexy surgical procedure includes

The best and appropriate technique of breast lift will be determined on the basis of following factors by Dr Amit Agarwal and you:

  • Breast size and shape
  • Elasticity as well as the amount of extra skin to be removed.
  • Degree of breast sagging
  • Size and position of your areolas.
  • Combining additional procedure implant placement or breast reduction if required.

A) If you have loose skin in your breast area and minimal sagging, only augmentation mastopexy with breast implants of your choice can be sufficient enough to lift your breast AUGMENTATION MASTOPEXY

B) Breast implants can be combined with minimum perioreolar scar to reduce the size of the areola and lift your breast even if you have moderate sagging and want to avoid long scar over your breast skin.

C) If you have severe sagging with loss of volume of the breast tissue, then classical breast lift surgery is advised. The procedure includes following steps

  • In the first step, general anaesthesia is given by our very competent anaesthetist and intensivist.
  • Incision can be of three types which can be used for breast lift surgery. The consultation with Dr Amit Agarwal will include the choice of one of these incisions which are-
    1. Around the Areola
    2. Around the Areola and vertically down from the areola to the Breast Crease.
    3. Brow Forehead Lift

    4. Around the areola, vertically down from the breast crease and horizontally along the Breast crease.
    5. Brow Forehead Lift

  • Third step includes reshaping the Breasts. After the incision is made:
    1. Reshaping is done by uplifting the breast tissue to improve the firmness and contour.
    2. The enlarged areolas are reduced by excising skin at the perimeter, if necessary.
    3. The areola and nipple are repositioned to a natural height.
    4. To compensate for loss of elasticity, excess breast skin is reduced.
    5. Sutures are layered deep within the breast tissue to support the newly shaped breasts
  • Fourth step includes closing of the incision. After the reshaping and removal of the excess skin, the remaining skin is tightened, and the incisions are closed over drains. Drains are placed under the skin to remove excess blood or fluid from the surgery.
  • The results are to be seen in the fifth step. Breast lift results are visible immediately after the surgery, but best results are perfectly visible when the swelling subsides completely.
  • Brow Forehead Lift

D) If you have severe sagging with significant loss of volume of the breast tissue, then the above procedure should be combined with breast implants of your choice to get best results.

E) If you have large sagging breasts and you are in distress and pain due to their large size, breast lift surgery should be combined with breast reduction surgery.

Recovery after Breast lift surgery

After the surgery, dressings are applied to the surgical area, and you are made to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling and to support your Breasts. You will be discharged next dayof the surgery after the drains are removed. The complete result of Breast Lift Surgery will be seen after the swelling and bruising subsides. You should give your body 3-6 months' time for evaluation of best results.

  • There can be substantial swelling and bruising of the breast area which usually subsides in 1 to 2 weeks
  • The sutures will be mostly within the breast crease, around nipple-areola complex which will be dissolvable and do not require to be taken off.
  • In the days following surgery, there will be pain which can be subsided by the pain killers given by Dr Amit Agarwal.

The complications and aftermaths of the surgery vary from person to person and her physical well-being. The factors which affect are poor circulation, a history of blood clots, diabetes or heart, lung or liver infection. Like every surgery, Breast Lift Surgery also involves some risks and complications which will be discussed during consultation with Dr Amit Agarwal which include:

  • Rare problems related to General anaesthesia. General Anaesthesia is relatively very safe in this era and time zone and the chances are very rare to land up in any complication. Team at Kayakriti Plastic Surgery and Dental Centre has two very competent Anaesthetists and world class workstation and equipments to make your surgical journey as safe as possible.
  • Risks related to higher BMI (Body Mass Index). Higher the BMI, higher are the risks of wound healing problems
  • Seroma formation or fluid accumulation below the breast tissue can occur which subsides with time.
  • Rare chances of infection and wound dehiscence are there which may require prolonged antibiotic therapy and re-suturing respectively.
  • Bleeding or haematomaformation under breast skin flaps which might mere require observation or surgical drainage.
  • Poor wound healing due to poor blood supply, seen more in smokers, people with medical conditions like diabetes, hypothyroidism or multiple diseases. Poor blood supply can lead to skin discoloration to skin/nipple-areola necrosis (rare).
  • Numbness or altered skin or Nipple sensation which improves with time.
  • There will be faintly visible scars present along the incision which might hypertrophy only if you are prone for it.
  • Persistent pain which subsides with time and mild to moderate medications.
  • Deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary or cardiac complications (very rare) can occur or precipitate in patients with multiple pre-existing diseases diagnosed or undiagnosed by routinely available standard tests or if multiple procedure (in other parts of the body like abdomen/thigh/buttocks) are combined in one sitting. Kindly do not force your surgeon for combining multiple procedures in different areas of the body in one sitting which is never recommended by Dr Amit Agarwal and might turn a very safe procedure to an unsafe one.
  • Possibility of revision surgery if the results do not meet your expectations.
