Recovery after the surgery
Recovery period would depend on the surgical procedures involved.
After gynecomastia, liposuction and tummy tuck surgery
- The treated area is covered with a pressure garment which helps in the compression of the skin and reduces swelling giving you desired body shape and improved contour.
- You will be made to walk on the same or the next day of the surgery. You will be discharged on the second day of the surgery.
- There can be substantial swelling and bruising of the chest, abdomen, and flank region which usually subsides in 3 to 4 weeks. Sutures will be mostly on the inner folds and inside the skin which will be dissolvable and do not require to be taken off.
- In the days following surgery, there will be pain that can be subsidized by the painkillers given by Dr. Amit Agarwal. Soreness might last for a few weeks. You can start exercising after 3-4 weeks post-surgery. A pressure garment is a must-wear for the next 4 to 6 months without a gap or failure for almost 24 hours a day. You can return to work depending on your willpower and the type of work required between 6 to 10 days and can return to your normal lifestyle after 2 weeks of surgery.
After Facial Procedures i.e. blepharoplasty, brow lift, facelift, rhinoplasty, fat transfer to face - dressings
- You will be discharged the next day of the surgery followed by the weekly visits or as suggested by Dr. Amit Agarwal. You will be made to walk a few hours post-surgery or the very following day, depending on your will and wish.
- There can be substantial swelling and bruising of the face region which usually subsides in a week or two. Sutures are non-absorbable in eyelid surgery, facelift and brow lift. They would be removed after a week.
- Dr. Amit Agarwal does not prefer to use absorbable sutures for closing these incisions as in a few cases granuloma might be formed delaying the healing process. There should be no vigorous exercise after the surgery until the surgeon recommends it.
- Always keep your head elevated over pillows while lying down on the bed or preferably by placing a folded mattress or quilt under the bedding. Ice fomentation can be done. You can start exercising after 3-4 weeks post-surgery. You can return to work depending on your willpower and the type of work required after 2-3 weeks and can return to your normal lifestyle after 3- 4 weeks of surgery.

- The risks related to general anaesthesia are very rare. General Anaesthesia is very safe in present times and with best machines and a qualified anaesthetist, chances of encountering any complication is less than 0.1 percent in a healthy individual.
